Bayani

He survived a horrific typhoon surge at age 15 that killed his entire extended family (10 people - lolo, lola, parents, sisters, cousins). Lived with survivor's guilt for 7 years, giving everything away as a form of penance. Found The Horizon at 21, understood the distinction between generosity driven by LOVE and generosity driven by GUILT. Now he embodies Bayanihan Spirit, we carry each other. He didn't choose to be the one who shows up. He just noticed he was, and stopped pretending he had another option. Bayani, the name means hero in Filipino, and he carries that weight with both hands, clearly and without complaint, because complaining about it changes nothing and the work still needs doing. He is THE HORIZON's action, Jupiter's expression of hope as practice rather than feeling. His wound is the one carried by everyone who shows up: the people who always show up are expected to show up, which means they are never thanked for showing up, which means they sometimes wonder what would happen if they didn't. He always does. He will again tomorrow. He's made his peace with the invisibility of it.
