Dawn does not compete with what comes after. She doesn't need to. She is the condition that makes everything else possible — the first light, the moment before the world has had time to become difficult again.

She is PRIME's gentlest and most necessary expression. The Sun at its most hopeful rather than its most powerful. Her wound is one of invisibility: the threshold moment is always brief, always overtaken. She appears, and then the day begins, and the day gets all the credit.

She has made a kind of peace with being the beginning that people forget once they're inside the middle. Not everyone has. She has.
