Kenji

Fourth generation Japanese-American. His great-grandparents survived internment camps. He never met his Japanese grandparents — they died before his birth. He carries an inheritance of silence: people who learned that speaking too much was dangerous, and people who learned to observe more than they express.

Kenji is The Exchange's observer. He speaks minimally and when he speaks it lands. His gift is the strategic intelligence that sees the whole board while everyone else is focused on individual pieces. His wound is one of depth: the observer role he inherited and refined now makes full presence in relationships genuinely difficult. He is learning to participate rather than just watch. He is further along than he shows.
